Intesa Sanpaolo presents at Gallerie d’Italia – Torino Carrie Mae Weems: The Heart of the Matter (until September 7, 2025), a major new exhibition dedicated to the internationally renowned American artist Carrie Mae Weems, known for her photographic investigations into issues of cultural identity, sexism, and class belonging.

Premiering exclusively, Preach, a project commissioned by Intesa Sanpaolo, explores religion and spirituality among African American descendants across generations. This powerful retrospective, featuring about a hundred works from Weems’ most famous photographic series, highlights her unique approach to addressing the complexities and injustices of the world around us, grounding her photography in places often excluded from mainstream narratives.

The exhibition is presented with the patronage of the Piedmont Region and the City of Turin, in collaboration with Aperture, with the support of Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation and curated by Sarah Meister.
